As one of the major part of computer vision application, visibility distance estimation is very important to control and improve traffic safety. In this paper, we propose a visibility distance estimation method in which time series images from high speed CCTV are used to analyze and classify into different visibility level depends on its HSV brightness values and edges pixel value. First, we generate the weather conditional patterns using CCTV images base on positioning region of interest on objects on the road such as traffic lights or traffic signs. After the patterns are generated, we compare the patterns similarity with patterns of each visibility distance conditions that is pre-generated from road CCTV videos during different visibility conditions. After comparing, visibility distance information can be generated.
